Uploading
editHi! I noticed that when you upload images to Flickr the bot often fail to remove the "upload template". An example is File:Ken mayer Passport04.jpg. How do you upload images? Do you click the link in the template ({{User:Flickr upload bot/token|token=81916}}):
You are now back at Wikimedia Commons. Please edit the page according to your wishes and save the page.
You must then click this link to complete the upload.
Do not remove this template, or Flickr upload bot will refuse to upload the file! tokenId: 81916
Is your image not uploaded after a day? Please leave a message for Bryan and add the tokenId and image name.
"You must then click this link to complete the upload."? If you do so the template should be removed and image verified by the bot. If you prefer to upload images manually please remember to remove the template and add {{Flickrreview}} instead. --MGA73 (talk) 22:14, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Polish stamps
editI copied some Polish stamps (seven from pre-Schengen period and one from from communist period) from old passports of my family, you have them here. They are from te period 1991-2001. Additionally, on one picture you have Austrian stamps (from Kleinhaugsdorf and from one other place, I don't remember where from), and on the another scan - Norwegian stamp from Fornebu Airport. You can use these scans as you want without restrictions. For your information, red letters ANULOWANO mean "cancelled" (these passports are rather old). You can see also cancellation perforations on the passport pages.
I have no more Polish stamps in my family's passports, but I do have some more from other European countries. Julo (talk) 19:36, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
PS. The eighth Polish stamp (round, red) is from December 1986 (or 1988), but I don't know where exactly from. Julo (talk) 19:43, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- I will try to scan other countries' stamps during next few days. If I would forget, remind me before this Sunday. Julo (talk) 09:22, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Take the same link again, I added some stamps more. Most of them are from the period after 2000, and from Balkan countries (Croatia, Serbia, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Greece, Bosnia, Albania). You must investigate yourself, where those stamps are from, but remember, in some countries they use cyryllic alphabet (i.e. УКРАЇНА on stamps12.jpg means "Ukraine", or Р МАКЕДОНИЈА on stamps2.jpg means "R[epublic] Macedonia", etc.). If you have problems in this investigation I can try to help you.
Tomorrow or aftertomorrow I will visit my mother, and I want ask her for her old passport (this one), with Soviet stamps of ~1972 inside. If I would forget, ask me.
Julo (talk) 16:43, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
PS
By the way: see also interesting picture, right here.

PPS
Have you seen this arrival form of Kosovo, which can substitute Kosovian stamps in passport? You know, Serbia does not accept Kosovo as separate country and stops people with Kosovian stamps in their documents (see here). Julo (talk) 17:45, 15 March 2010 (UTC)- You told: Just out of curiosity, what made you upload the photos of the old Polish passports?
Did you mean ultraviolet, this JPG version of GIF? The author of original motion GIF version is user:Staszewski, not me. I just made two screenshoots of his GIF and sticked them together (using Irfan-view program), making my JPG version.
If you did mean other pictures (stamps1.jpg ... stamps12.jpg), I scanned them using not expensive EPSON V200 desktop scanner. Julo (talk) 18:16, 15 March 2010 (UTC)- Hmmm, my English is not perfect, I did not understand your question, I see, you meant what power makes me or what power forces me.
OK, it's simple: I really don't know.
I see passing times. When I'm talking to my son (born 1985) he does not understand those stupid times, rules and difficulties we were living in before. I feel I have to add my small brick to the pile of remembrance. It sounds in high-flown style, but it is true.
Back to stamps
Look again to the same link, I made the newest sub-folder there with some pages of my mother's old passports. You will find there some Polish, Lithuanian, Belarussian, Ukrainian,... stamps. Look at paszp.JPG: on upper part of the picture you have (@22.09.1994) a trip from Lithuania to Republic Belarussia (Raigardas->Grodno) and back to Raigardas in the same day. In the lower part you have a trip from Poland to Soviet Belarussia (also to Grodno) in 1972. You see the small difference between Russian and Belarussian languages: the same city in Russian is spelled Гродно, but in Belarussian Гродна.
Polish word "wyjazd" means "departure" and word "wjazd" means "entrance". It means the round pink stamp is departure and eight-corner stamp is entrance. What rules were in use in blue stamps - I don't know. There is nothing I can identify as entering or leaving. The only I can help you it is image paszp0004.JPG (upper part, right). At 22.03.1994 my mother leaved Poland (in Kudowa) by bus and six days later she was in Metković on the border between Croatia and Bosnia.
Julo (talk) 22:21, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Something more: look at File:Pieczatki.jpg. Somebody left Poland in Gdynia @01.07.95 and next day (crosing the sea) entered Sverige in Karlskrona. He left Poland in Gdynia also @10.11.95 entering Karlskrona in Sverige the same day. Im 99% sure all four Polish stamps on this picture were put during leaving country, the border officers after 1990 stamped Polish citiziens coming back rather seldom. Julo (talk) 22:33, 17 March 2010 (UTC)- If you are working with yor book about the end of communist era in Eastern Europe - remember, this began not in Berlin when The Wall was fallen. It began in Poland during free election at June 4th 1989. Look here and here. First document ("upoważnienie"=authorization, dated May 29th 1989) is for person, who has right to control election legality in one of constituencies (election areas). Second one, dated June 19th, is "serdeczne podziękowania"=cordial acknowledgements for work during election campaign of Solidarity. Do you see this rising sun? We felt at the time the new era begins...

Mota'ain and Motaain
editHello Slleong, you mixed up the Indonesian and the East Timorese side of the border. Please aware the description of the categories and linked articles. Grreetings, --JPF (talk) 11:01, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi JPF (talk), thanks for your message and greetings.
- 1. For the spelling of Motaain/Mota'ain for the Indonesian side, I basically followed Indonesian news reports. There were a variety of spellings including Mota'ain, Motaain and even Mota Ain. As I understand there are villages on both sides of the border that share the same name, I decided to use Mota'Ain for both East Timor (following the map you drew) and Indonesian villages. Nonetheless, if you think that Mota'ain should be for East Timor and Motaain for Indonesia, I don't find that an issue. Interestingly, this border pass agreement spells the East Timor village as Motaain without the " ' ".
- 2. I noticed your edit reversions has revived the Category:Atambua Checkpoint and placed that and the Category:Batugade Checkpoint under the Category:Mota'ain Checkpoint. Atambua Checkpoint is now referred to as the Motaain Checkpoint (Indonesian side) as seen in recent Indonesian newspaper reports, while I don't think the Batugade Checkpoint (the official name of the checkpoint) should be placed under Category:Mota'ain Checkpoint. It can be in Category:Mota'ain to show its location, but not Category:Mota'ain Checkpoint. Hence, my decision to empty out Atambua Checkpoint to Motaain Checkpoint, which will in turn be under Category:Motaain + Category:East Timor-Indonesia Border Crossings category. Batugade Checkpoint to be under Category:Mota'ain (as a locality) + Category:East Timor-Indonesia Border Crossings.
- 3. I am also curious over the revisions of the old map of the Oecusse border at Nipane to remove the Category:East Timor-Indonesia Border. The map shows the border, albeit about a historical dispute over its location. Nonetheless, I would have thought that the category which I had added was very relevant.
- Thanks.slleong (talk) 04:43, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

File:2006-06 Świecko 08.jpg - Slubice?
editHaie Slleong,
you changed the category, but I think its wrong. This part of the river is not in the City Słubice, but close to Świecko. So within the Gmina but thats IMO not what Category:Oder River in Słubice means. Otherwise the Cat would nee to be named "gmina slubice" and could not be subcat of Slubice but of Gmina Słubice, Lubusz Voivodeship?! ...Sicherlich talk 14:49, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Sicherlich,
- Thanks so much for your message. I had the impression that Oder River in Słubice was for the whole Gmina of Słubice, and indeed if that was the case, this category would have been parked under Gmina Słubice, Lubusz Voivodeship rather than City of Słubice. I will revert the edit, if you have not done it already. The only reason why I have been meddling with categories was with the hope of reducing the number of photos is some of the "big" categories for ease of searching. And I have been going into these categories because of my interest is border and border stones/pillars photos. As for your photos, do you think that the time is right for a Category:Oder River in Świecko yet? Thanks again.slleong (talk) 01:45, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- Haie Slleong, thx a lot! ... If the time is right I don't know. I'm not too much into categories on commons. I try to put my pics in the best fitting categories, thats all ;) ... if you feel like its time: just do it :D ... or maybe a Oder River in Gmina Słubice? Because the river might not be within the borders of the village but just close by? ...Sicherlich talk 17:26, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
