NEW ADD-ON UPDATE – Introducing the TREVO Mileage Package, a prepaid option that allows you to purchase extra kilometers for your travels.

We understand that some trips were meant to be longer and stretched in distance within a single day. That’s why this option exists and it starts from RM0.60/km!

Don’t worry, the existing daily 200 km mileage is still included.

Adding your mileage upfront will make your journey smoother AND avoid excess mileage charges (that nobody likes, of course!).

Here’s a comparison to illustrate adding your mileage upfront VS exceeding your daily mileage:

Now here’s how you do it:

Will there be any refunds for excess purchased fuel?

Unfortunately, TREVO does  not reimburse the difference in mileage bought and mileage used.

Can Guests purchase the mileage when extending a booking?

No, currently you can only purchase the Mileage Package when you are making a booking.

However, additional mileage is automatically added when a Guest makes a booking extension. For example: an extension of 2 hours entitles additional an 80 km mileage. Refer table below for more information.

What happens if Guests do not purchase the Mileage Package?

There will be a charge of RM1/km for any excess mileage. TREVO Mileage Package offers cheaper mileage prices for bigger savings!

What happens if Guests exceed the mileage bought from the Mileage Package?

If you have exceeded the mileage purchased for your booking, it will be calculated based on the excess distance at RM1 per excess kilometer.

When it comes to travelling, we could either take public transport or drive a car by ourselves. Thus, car rental services are a great option for times in need, especially one-day car rental services. If you’re curious to know more about it, we dive into more detail below!

What is a one-day car rental?

A one-day car rental refers to renting a car just for one day instead of a few weeks or months. People tend to engage with one-day car rental for times their own car isn’t available or for a quick day trip and overnight getaway.

Best car to rent for one-day car rental

1. Hatchback

Hatchback vehicles usually consist of 3 to 5 doors, with the boot included. When you open the boot, the rear window will move as well.

Some popular car model examples are Perodua Myvi, Perodua Axia, Honda City Hatchback, and Proton Iriz.

2. Sedan

Sedan vehicles have 4 doors, with the boot separated from the rear window. This means as you open the boot, the rear window will not move.

Some popular car models examples are Honda Civic, Proton Saga, Toyota Camry, and Proton Persona.

3. MPV

MPV stands for multi-purpose vehicles, which are very spacious and can fit a large number of people. The downside is that the size is quite large, so you’ll have to take into account where you’re heading with it.

MPV is also the perfect family car if you’re going out for a one-day trip with your family.

Some popular car models examples are Proton Exora, Nissan Serena, and Toyota Innova.

4. SUV

SUV, which stands for Sports Utility Vehicles, are built to travel on rough and bumpy roads. The size of these vehicles is quite large too, with the ability to fit a high number of people as well as luggage.

Some popular car models examples are Toyota Harrier, Proton X50, Perodua Ativa, and Mazda CX-5.

Price for one-day car rental

Most of the car rental one-day prices are on a per-day basis. The prices are also based on the different car types and brands. As for TREVO, the car rental prices are set by the car owners. If you’re renting a car for the first time, TREVO offers a promo where you can use it upon your first car rental booking.

Things you should know before renting a car for the first time

things-you-should-know-before-renting-a-car-for-the-first-time

If you haven’t engaged with any one-day car rental services before, there are several things you need to be aware of. Below are some of them:

1. A driver’s licence is required

Without a doubt, a valid driver’s licence is required for one-day car rentals. Make sure you check whether your licence hasn’t expired yet before renting a car.

2. Check the previous damages to the car

Before proceeding to go on your journey with a rented car, make sure that you check for previous damages. Take pictures if necessary so that you can show proof in case the car owner blames you for the damages that were already there before you used it.

3. Get to know the vehicle’s condition

It’s always a good practice to inspect one’s car before driving off! Not only will it give you peace of mind, but you’ll also know that your drive will be a smooth one. Have a quick chat with the host of the car to understand their car condition such as air conditioning, tyres and fluid levels.

4. A valid credit or debit card is required

These days, everyone owns a credit or debit card – you’ll be an odd one out if you don’t! However, even if you don’t own one, you’ll still be able to rent a car with TREVO as you can also use other payment methods such as TREVO wallet, Touch ‘n Go eWallet and GrabPay.

5. Additional drivers are welcomed

One driver isn’t enough just in case they fall asleep? No worries, we got you! You can add up to 2 additional drivers with TREVO, subject to additional fees. Just make sure they are registered and verified members as well!

Need to rent a car for one day?

We hope the information provided is sufficient enough to make your first self-drive car rental experience a smooth one! If you want to get started with car rental services, you can join TREVO! Not only do they provide one-day car rental, but they also provide car rental on a multi-day or long-term basis.

Spoilt for choice when it comes to booking a car on TREVO? We feel ya 😍

With Malaysia’s Largest Car-Rental Marketplace installed on your phone, you have over 4,500 cars to choose from!

To help you book the best cars that fulfil your needs, follow these tips from the Car Rental Mahaguru of TREVO.

1. Read Acceptance Rates, Responsive Rates and Reviews before booking

Checking out these details on a TREVO Host’s profile page can save you a lot of headaches.

Host with high Acceptance and Responsive Rates are usually super excited to have Guests enjoy their bookings and experiences.

To save time when you book a car, look at how long a Host usually takes to respond to booking requests.

When you liaise with a Host that typically responds within one hour, expect quick replies to your queries and have your booking accepted at a quicker rate.

Reading a Host’s Reviews that were shared by previous Guests is important too. You’d feel more assured and confident when you book a car from a Host with many five-star reviews. Reviews from other Guests can also help highlight any potential problems with a Host’s car.

But don’t forget! Sometimes, the best hosts are new hosts who have just started renting out their cars on TREVO. So feel free to check out the diamonds in the rough!

2. Research the car model: Ask the Host about their car’s quirks or issues

The most popular cars on TREVO are owned by responsive TREVO Hosts who are upfront about their cars’ quirks.
For instance, you might want to know when a car was last serviced and how the vehicle performs in different environments like highways, unpaved roads and traffic jams. A good TREVO Host would answer your questions.

Some quirks from a car can be harmless. Perhaps the Host of a Toyota Vios you have been eyeing has just informed you that the car’s speaker isn’t the best and has a faint buzzing sound when you play music for more than a couple of hours.

He has brought his car to a dozen workshops for examination, and the mechanics couldn’t find anything wrong with the car, despite its little buzzing noise.

If that’s a quirk you’re cool with, go ahead and book the Toyota Vios of your dreams.

Finding out more details about a car can help shape your booking decision. Asking the Host questions before booking will also ensure that you are getting a car you will like.

3. Take pre-inspection photos of the Host’s car when you accept the vehicle

As a TREVO Guest, you are required to take pre-inspection photos of the car before starting your booking, and post-inspection photos after you have completed your booking time.

These photos will serve as proof that you are returning the car in the same condition in which it was received,

Taking these photos will also give you the opportunity to examine the car’s condition. If the car you have booked arrives in unexpectedly poor condition, please inform the TREVO Customer Service team at Your App Account > Live Chat or email us at help@trevo.my.

Finding the best cars for yourself isn’t hard!

So doing a little research to find the right car for yourself on TREVO is easy. Follow these steps and pretty soon, you’ll be booking and driving an enjoyable car that suits your needs.

Remember to book with our latest promos as well. Enjoy your drives!
