Please do not ask us to run checks without good reason; be aware of the following before requesting a check:
- Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases; pursue other options first, such as posting on the administrator's noticeboard. (This is not a venue for requesting administrative action such as blocks or file clean-up.)
- Running a check will only be done to combat disruption on Commons, or as required to assist checkuser investigations on other Wikimedia wikis.
- Valid reasons for running a check include, for example: vandalism where a block of the underlying IP or IP range is needed and suspected block evasion, vote-stacking, or other disruption where technical evidence would prevent or reduce further disruption.
- Requests to check accounts already confirmed on other projects may be declined as redundant.
- Requests to run a check on yourself will be declined.
- Evidence is required. When you request a check, you must include a rationale that demonstrates (e.g., by including diffs) what the disruption to the project is, and why you believe the accounts are related.
- Requests to run a check without evidence or with ambiguous reasoning will result in delays or the request not being investigated.
- The privacy policy does not allow us to make a check that has the effect of revealing IP addresses.
Outcome
Responses will be brief in order to comply with Wikimedia privacy policy. Due to technical limitations, results are not always clear. Closed requests are archived after seven days.
Privacy concerns
If you feel that a checkuser request has led to a violation of the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy regarding yourself, please refer the case to the Ombuds commission.

- I'm pretty sure this is Lucyspears, Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Lucyspears. These socks know too much to be a newbie. Obvisouly, it's someone who has been familar with how Wikipedia and Commons work. Nguyentrongphu (talk) 07:49, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Technically this appears not directly related to Lucyspears. --Krd 12:47, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sure Lucyspears got smarter by now. We have to look at behaviors to catch sock master experts. Nguyentrongphu (talk) 13:35, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

- An admin please look into Special:Contributions/Nguyễn_Thanh_Vân_dana based on behaviors to confirm whether they belong to this group or not. Băng Tỏa 14:32, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, definitely. I thought Krd blocked the above accounts. Now done. Yann (talk) 14:46, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- I just found new evidence to identify the sock master. In File:Damvinhhung.jpg's history, Nguyễn Thanh Vân dana's reverted the photo to an older version uploaded by Musée Annam. Musée Annam was globally banned as a result of this RfC in meta.Could it be that these socks are closely related to Musée Annam? Băng Tỏa 17:29, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, these socks either belong to Lucyspears or Musée Annam. Nguyentrongphu (talk) 06:29, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Do we have any evidence that those are or are not the same person? — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:06, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Lucyspears and Musée Annam are 2 different people. I've encountered both of them over the years in Vietnamese Wikipedia. This group of socks has some similarities in behavior with Lucyspears. It could also be Musée Annam as Bang Toa pointed out. Nguyentrongphu (talk) 08:17, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Krd can you confirm? All the Best -- Chuck Talk 04:54, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- I think is not enough data to confirm any of the suspicions mentioned above. Krd 13:12, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

- Maxwolf36 (talk • contribs • Luxo's • SUL • deleted contribs • logs • block user • block log )
Rationale, discussion and results
[edit]Reason: The information com to my talk page in he.wiki by Little Savage. The user La Liga Oficial has uploaded a series of copyrighted images, pretending to be a person associated with La Liga (and thus impersonating the copyright holder). It goes without saying that the user behind this account is Arieleisenhammer, as he is the one who used the images some time later (see here for example). The user already has a history of copyright violations, and he was even blocked for it in He.wiki (see here). In addition, it is very likely that the user Maxwolf36 is also operated by the same user, since all the images he uploaded to Commons were added to articles in he.wiki which created by user Arieleisenhammer (see for example her). -- Geagea (talk) 13:56, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Confirmed that La Liga Oficial = Maxwolf36, also Deportivo Alavés. Stale is Arieleisenhammer, so whether the confirmed group is that master needs to be based on behaviour. Эlcobbola talk 14:37, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Rationale, discussion and results
[edit]Suspected sockpuppets have uploaded multiple copyrighted, published images under the guise of being the original photographer. Both user accounts have uploaded images that have since been removed as they were confirmed to have been taken by a different photographer entirely. A sockpuppet check would confirm if they are the same source and thus unlikely to be the claimed photographers. Their uploaded images were all added to their corresponding Wiki pages by Zevabelle40, sockpuppet of ZestyLemonz. Breaktheicees (talk) 23:49, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Upon further investigation, I think that this probably should have been listed as a sockpuppet investigation of User:ZestyLemonz, who I only now realized had a Wikimedia account & an ongoing list of sockpuppets. Original listing was for User:Ben Birchall; moved accordingly. Also worth nothing that sockpuppet accounts of this user have claimed ownership of images in the same way. Breaktheicees (talk) 10:14, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Doing… Эlcobbola talk 14:27, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Confirmed with several others that have been added to c:Category:Sockpuppets of ZestyLemonz. No comment on IP. Эlcobbola talk 16:54, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Rationale, discussion and results
[edit]Reason: Abusing multiple accounts. The behaviour pattern is usual: uploading of files from a SONY DSC-S750 camera without categorization. However, the main problem is the usage of these accounts for cross-wiki spamming of images. Very probably the original account was Jenócrates, but CU data are too old. Thanks! Ruthven (msg) 09:12, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Ruthven: I'm not sure I follow. FelipeY456 has never edited the Commons. Godofredo86 has only uploaded one image, which does not have DSC-S750 EXIF, and has only edited xwiki related to "Japan" (indeed, to insert their image inappropriately). This is very different from Lisímaco de Egipto, who is adding relevant, non-promotional images unrelated to Japan. Please provide specific diffs and images that both demonstrate a connection and disruptive use of multiple accounts. Эlcobbola talk 14:01, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Elcobbola You're right: the distruptive behaviour is not on Commons, but on Wikipedia. Best, Ruthven (msg) 14:12, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
